Hey Sister Friend!

I’m Damesha and I’m so glad you’re here!

I’m a visionary, podcaster, student of life, a daughter, and a sister. I’m also a 25 year old music lover, major foodie, and that girl who keeps her whole life in the Notes app of her phone. From my grocery list to potential baby names. Like truly is there a support group for us?

I just laid out a few details of my life there but the most important detail is that I am a lover of Jesus. He has so beautifully written my story and boy has it been a story.

Listen up my friend…

There’s More Out There

As a South Bend, Indiana native, I learned to appreciate the small things in life. I came from a middle class family and though we didn’t always get what we wanted, we always had what we needed. So throughout my younger years, I found joy in the small things. I often read or listened to music for leisure. I didn’t find interest in many of the things my generation did. I felt like I didn’t belong in many of the circles I tried to fit in. But somewhere inside, I felt like there was more out there for me.

Leap of Faith

In August 2013, I shocked my family and announced that I was going to Butler University, in Indianapolis, Indiana, for college. Many doubted that I would last all four years, being away from my family, but God graced me to graduate with my Bachelors in Sociology in May 2017. After a year of working full time in my field and an urgent push from God, I sought out the opportunity to attend graduate school. I shocked the world when I decided that I was moving 11 hours away from home to obtain my Masters of Public Administration from West Chester University, in West Chester, Pennsylvania. By the mere grace and mercy of God, I graduated with multiple accolades and at the top of my class in May of 2020.  You’ll hear the “leap of faith” testimony behind that soon.

The Vision

There was a point in time where I had made the bold decision to follow God. I didn’t care what it looked like, I was desperate for Him. October 15th, 2017 is when I solidified that decision and got baptized at a local church. As I began this walk, I was on fire for God. I loved getting in the Word and growing as a believer. Unfortunately though, the loneliness began to seep in. I felt like there weren’t any young woman around me that I could go to about the aspects of this walk. I just knew that other women had to be experiencing what I was as well. So I sought God on potentially creating an organization where women could be their authentic selves and strengthen their relationship with Him. From that desire, God gave me the vision and in April 2018, I birthed Girl Talk.

God-given Dreams

Founded with a mission to “empower women in Christ through vulnerability, transparency, and authenticity,” Girl Talk is a lifestyle ministry specializing in the edification of women through Christ. Since our start, I have been fortunate to pour into women through our online platform but also through various collaborations and events. Anytime, God grants me the opportunity to walk in my calling, I work diligently work to cultivate a space where women can flourish spiritually while achieving their God-given dreams and aspirations.

The Real

Look sis, I’m just like the next woman, simply trying to figure out this life thing. But it brings me so much joy to know that I have God and other likeminded women, like yourself, striving to be our best selves everyday. From this point forward, I got you, you got me, and God has us. Let’s do this!
